Egyptian comedy star Adel Imam has confirmed that he will take part in the Muscat Festival 2002 for Crafts and Popular Arts, which will be held next January, according to the Arabic daily al Sharq Al Awsat.

The festival will stage Imam’s play Bodyguard, directed by Imam’s son Rami and costarring Shireen Seif Al Naser.

Imam has recently returned from Syria, where he staged his play for five days and met President Bashar Al Assad.

The renowned actor is expected to participate in the first Suez International Film Festival, which is scheduled to begin on October 24.

“I agreed to participate in the first comedy Suez International Film Festival after writer Mahfouz Abdel Rahman informed me that the festival would honor me by screening a number of my films, including Al Erhab Wal Kebab (Terrorism and Kebab), Al Erhabi (Terrorist) and Bakhit Wa A’dilah,” said Imam, cited by the daily.

Imam reiterated his delight with the honor, particularly in view of the fact that festival would be the first comedy festival to be held in Egypt, and called for backing for the event - Albawaba.com
