Prominent Egyptian comedian-actor Adel Imam has agreed to star in a television drama series to be aired next Ramadan, marking his third experience on the silver screen. Before signing the contract for the drama, Adel placed a set of conditions that he demanded to be met in order to give his final approval.
According to the UAE based daily, Al Bayan, the first condition Adel placed was that scenarist Waheed Kamel is to write the script and prominent director Sharif Arafaeh be given full control of direction. Adel added that the scenes of the drama are to be shot in the story’s actual places away from studios and make belief sets.
Adel is not known to be a television star, but rather he is the master of the cinema and theater. Throughout his career he only starred in two television dramas “Ahlam Al Fata Al Ta’er” and “Dumoo’ Fi Oyoon Wakiha”.
On a different note, After six years of separation Adel returned to work with famous scenarist Waheed Hamed. The new project the two are working on is quoted from the novel “Aamaret Ya’qoubian”.
The director for the new film will be Marwan, the son of scenarist Waheed Hamid, and he is given a strong start as his first step into directing. The movie is about fighting corruption and Adel performs the role of a high ranked official who is suspected to be involved in different acts of corruption.
