Al Doha Culture Festival to unite Majida Al Roumi with Lionel Richie
March 9,2004 will witness the launching of the annual Doha Culture Festival in Qatar featuring a number of some of the brightest names of the entertainment world. Last year's festival was noted to have been very successful as it witnessed the participation of prominent singers, who symbolize the golden age of Arab and Western entertainment, like Lebanese singers Fairouz and Wadee El Safi, Spanish singer Jose Fernandez and Italian legend Pavarotti.
According to the London based Elaph, this year's events will feature a spectacular performance by Lebanese singer Majida Al Roumi on March 12, 2004, Egyptian comedian actor Adel Imam will present his famous play "The Bodyguard" on March 10-12, American international singer Lionel Richie is also scheduled to hold a performance on March 15, 2004, and many other prominent singers and poets will be part of the big event.
Majida has recently gave a fascinating performance at the opening of the Layali (Nights) Dubai Music Festival, which is part of the annual Dubai shopping festival. The concert lasted for over three hours, in which the singer would take short breaks in between changing her look and once more spellbinding the audience.
The concert hall was packed, containing a large number of Lebanese residing in Dubai. Majida presented a collection of her old and new songs, featuring some Lebanese patriotic songs. Throughout the concert, the singer would either smoothly seat herself on a stool depending on the song, and at other times she would dance slightly captivating her audience.
The festival was launched on January 15th and will be held for one month. Majida had recently participated in a Christmas party held in Beirut, and is placing final touches on her upcoming musical album, which will be the fruit of her cooperation with many prominent composers and poets such as Elye Showeri and Dr. Abdul Rab Idris. The singer stressed that she will manage all the details of her album and her career for the first time throughout her career, after being used to having her husband take care of all her career and social matters.
Majida also revealed that she is preparing to shoot a music video for one of the songs from her upcoming album under the direction of internationally known director Stein Wakrun. The singer added that she also plans on shooting a second music video under the direction of Jamil Al Maghazi.
In her upcoming album, Majida has included a new song, which talks about the nature of her relationship with her husband and is her last message to him. In the song, Majida is indirectly telling her only love to return and begin a new life together forgetting all the hurt and pain that has taken over their lives. -Albawaba.com
