Alexandria Film Fest Delivers Flat ‘No’ to Israeli Applicants
Alexandria’s 17th International Cinema Festival has rebuffed Israeli attempts to participate in the September 5 event.
Festival chairman Mohammed Saleh told reporters that last week, the American Israeli director, Ramon Bloomburg, sent the festival organizers a request to take part in the event with a movie named The Zone K.
Bloomburg said the film addressed clashes between Palestinian fishermen and their Israeli counterparts in Gaza strip, adding that the movie was considered a joint US-Israeli production, according to the official Kuwaiti news agency, KUNA.
Saleh pointed out that this was the tenth such attempt by Israelis, and that the festival organizers had turned a deaf ear because of the Jewish state’s policy of violence, assassinations and blockades imposed on the Palestinians.
Cairo’s film festival, scheduled for December, also consistently rejects Israeli participation – Albawaba.com
