According to the London Daily Elaph, the music channel European MTV Arabia announced that several Arab music artists have been nominated for an MTV Europe Award.
The music channel announced the list of names nominated for best Arabic singer, including Nancy Ajram, Tamer Husni, Muhammad Hamqi, Rashed Al Majed and Ellisa. The winner will be announced on the day of the celebration in Munich, Germany broadcasted live on MTV Arabila. Audiences all over the Arab world will be able to watch and to vote for their favorite singer via the channel website www.MTVa.com.
The event has been described as the starting point for Arab singers to gain recognition in Europe. MTV Arabila will be launched in mid November and it will be the first free music channel that is concerned about young people’s issues throughout the Arab world.
