The ‘Golden Murex’ decided to give out awards at the celebration that was held at the Casino Lebanon. The timing of the celebration comes around the same time of the Music Celebration, Father’s Day and the death of the famous Lebanese Asi Al Rahabani. The celebration was aired live on the Lebanese channel ‘LBC’ and awards were giving out to outstanding artists for the year 2007.

The ceremony started out by giving an award to the famous Lebanese musician Melhim Barakat. When he received the award he said that he knows how to sing more than he can talk so he sang a song for the audience. As for the famous Lebanese female artist Carole Samaha she received the award of best singer in Lebanon. Carole wanted to thank everyone who did not believe in her because that is what encouraged her to become the best. Carole also sang for the audience her new and successful song “Yama Layali” (So Many Nights).

According to the London daily Elaph, for the second year in a roll the famous Syrian female artist Asala Nasri receives the award for best Arab female singer.

Asala was presented by the journalist Nidal Al Ahmadyeh where both made up at last year’s seventh “Murex Dior” when back then the co-host Jomanah Bo Eid invited both to make up on stage. Asala was speechless on stage she said even though she’s been in media since she was 15 years old, she is still shy.

She sent out a salute to her beloved husband the director Tareq Al Aryan and she hoped that they would both get old together. Asala didn’t sing any of her songs, instead she sang “Alnada Al Nada” for the great Lebanese singer Sabah who was present at the celebration. Asala told Sabah that she doesn’t have a strong voice like hers but she will try her best singing the song. Asala also called out for the Lebanese singer Wael Kfoury to come up on stage and to sing along with her.

As for the best male Arab singer the award went to the Emirati singer Hussein Al Jismi and his song “Bahibak Wahashtni” (I Miss you and Love you) also received award for best song.
