Cartage Film Festival kicks off with the honoring of actor Ahmed Zaki
The 19th Cartage Film Festival kicked off yesterday with the honoring of renowned Egyptian actor Ahmed Zaki. The opening ceremony was attended by star Ahmed Zaki, the Egyptian ambassador in Tunisia, the Tunisian Minister of Culture Dr. Abdul Baqi Al Hirmasi, as well as well-known Arab and Foreign stars.
The Egyptian daily, Al Ahram reported on Sunday that Zaki’s honoring program included the screening of some of his movies. It started with the movie "Ayyam Al Sadat" (Days of Sadat), and continued with "Zawgat Ragol Mohimm" (Wife of a VIP). The management of the festival said that other movies for the Egyptian star, like "Dhid Al Hukoomah" (Against Government), "Al Huroob" (The Escape), "Al Hobb Fawk Hadhabat Al Haram" (Love on the Pyramid), will be screened throughout the 10-day festival.
Egypt will participate in the official contest of the festival with "Muwaten, Mukhber Wa Harami" (Citizen, Detective and Thief). The movie starring Khaled Abul Naja, pop singer Shaaban Abdul Rahim, Salah Abdulla and Tunisian actress Hind Sabri, is directed by Daoud Abdul Said, who has received an invitation to attend the film screening and conference afterwards.
Another movie is "Al Saher" (The Magician) starring Mahmoud Abdul Aziz and Salwa Khattab and directed by the late director Radhwan Al Kashef.
On another tone, Zaki is seen busy these days holding meetings with scenarist Bashir Al Dik to discuss their upcoming project "Al Embarator" (The Emperor) TV series. - Albawaba.com
