Earlier this week the annual Doha Song Festival was launched in Qatar at the Doha Sheraton Hotel, which is organized by the Qatari Television Broadcasting Company. The event, which will last for six days, will feature 22 artists from around the Arab world.
According to the London based Elaph, the event has come to be known as the festival of the big artists due to the fact that only the most prominent singers are qualified to sing in it. Only selected singers are given the opportunity to sing on the stage, which is considered the largest in the Middle East.
Qatari singer Mansour Al Muhanadi launched the opening ceremony of the festival followed by Saudi singer Abbas Ibrahim. Once Abbas walked off stage Lebanese singer Diana Haddad gave a splendid performance, marking her third participation since the festival began.
Kuwaiti singer Nawal gave the finale of the opening ceremony and sang a collection of her famous hits. The festival is expected to witness tremendous success due to the list of prominent singers participating in it.
