Egypt, Guest of Honor at Actors Spring Fest in Farnce

Egypt was nominated Wednesday as a guest of honor at the 16th Actors Spring Festival in France which will be held in the French city of Montpelier and will continue for one month during the period between June 4-30, 2002. 

The Egyptian Cultural Attaché, Hani Hilal, said the festival is considered the second biggest cultural and theatrical festival in France where 27 artists will participate. The festival will be held in collaboration with the Egyptian Ministry of Culture under the title “Flokah” which symbolizes the Nile. Flokah will move from south to north to feature the Egyptian folk arts alongside the course of the river. 

The festival management decided the Egyptian show to be the main one for two hours daily. 

“Shabab al Nile Troupe has been chosen to participate in the festival and to portray al Sirah al Hilaliyyah, al Mizmar and Raqset al Tannourah in addition to Hasaballah and Shamaadan Troupe. Spells on the Clown, Tahteeb, and Shade Shadow will be portrayed. Egypt will also participate in the festival with the play Conference on Cleopatra and Antonio,” the daily al Ahram cited the festival’s technical advisor, Tala’t al Singari as saying. 

The festival head, John Clore Carrier who is considered a prominent French screenwriter, Andrea Visnier, head of Eirwa province and Daniel Pidos, festival director attended the press conference -- Albawaba.com
