The Egyptian song Rami has won the 9th Mic Golden Award at the Arabic Song Festival organized by the Arabic Radio Stations Union in Damascus, according to the Egyptian daily Al Ahram.
The prize for the best song is worth 6,000 dollars to be shared equally between the author Medhat Al Adel, composer Sami Al Hafnawi and the singer Walaa Hamdi. The song is about the Palestinian kid Rami who lives in Jerusalem differently from all other kids throughout the world.
The prize for the best script went for the poem Emraah Sharqiyyah (Eastern Woman) by the late Syrian poet Nizar Qabbani, the prize for the best composition went for the late Saudi composer Talal Maddah and the prize for the best performance went to the Syrian singer Laila Mustafa.
