Egyptian Coldplay tribute band to play their cover songs this weekend

The new Strawberry Swing band will pay tribute to the world famous band Coldplay, covering their songs in a performance at Elbet Alwan, Zamalek on Saturday.

The alternative rock band began in October, according to their official Facebook page, with the aim of spreading the spirit of Coldplay’s music.

Coldplay is a seven-time Grammy-winning band that was formed in 1996 by lead vocalist and keyboardist Chris Martin and lead guitarist Jonny Buckland.

Some of Coldplay’s hits between 2000 and the present include A Sky Full of Stars, Paradise, Every Teardrop is a Waterfall, Fix You, and Yellow, which preceded their first album Parachutes. They have won over 60 awards and were nominated over 200 times throughout their career, including nine Brit Awards and five MTV Video Music Awards.

Strawberry Swing was founded by Abdelrahman Sherief, the band’s lead vocal, acoustic guitarist and keyboardist. Sherief was also a member of Cosmic Architects band and Sinprophecy.

The three other band members include Mohamed Tarek Alkhaleel on the guitar and keyboard, Patrick Khalil on drums and Guy on the bass guitar.
