Egyptian Musician Union lifts ban on Marwa
The Egyptian Musician Union has decided to life the ban off Lebanese singer Marwa after the release of provocative video showing her half nude with only her hands to cover her chest. The video was taken from a scene in the film “Ahasees” (Feelings), which Marwa took part in two years ago.
According to the London based Elaph, the Union decided to just give Marwa a warning and avoid such an incident in the future, stating that if such a similar thing happens they will take dire measures against her.
A report released by the Union stated that Marwa is not confined by the regulations of the Union and she merely holds an annual permit to be able and perform in Egypt. The reported added that Marwa had confirmed the video was not fabricated and it was taken after the towel she had wrapped around her body suddenly fell. Marwa placed the blame on the director and head of filming, who were the only people present during the filmed scene, stating that they are behind the leaking of the video.
Marwa had assured that never again will she take part in such scenes despite the fact that in the recent months, she had received numerous offers to star in films and play roles that contain similar scenes. The union strictly stated that if the incident is repeated, Marwa would not be allowed to sing in Egypt and she would not be able to obtain a permit.
