Moroccan actress Fatma Kheir will participate in the jury of the 12th Damascus Film Festival, which will be held November 3-10, according to the Arabic daily Al Sharq Al Awsat.

About 50 films from all over the world will participate in the festival, including Morocco, which will participate in the official contest. Morocco will participate with the film Wind Rod, directed by Daoud Awlad Al Sayyed.

Among the other films which will be screened as part of the Moroccan entries are the films Yaqout by Jamal Balmajdoub, Al Sirr Al Matrouze by Omar Al Sharaibi and Atash (Thirst) by Saad Al Sharaibi, who participated in the previous festival with the special prize-winning hit Nisaa Wa Nisaa (Women and women).

"After returning home from Damascus, I'll begin shooting my role in a series directed by Jamal Balmajdoub, which will mark my return to acting after a five-year sabbatical," Kheir told the daily.

Kheir's last appearance on the big screen was in the film Yaqout, for which she won the prize for best actress at the African Film Festival two years ago in the Moroccan city of Bakhreibkah - Albawaba.com
