Greece Wins Cairo Children Film Fest Golden Prize

The Greek film Dim Light won Thursday night the golden prize in the Long Narrative Film Contest during the concluding ceremony of the 12th Cairo International Festival for Children Films. 

The Iranian film The Mother also won the golden prize for the short narrative films. The silver prize went to the Kingot film from Iceland while the bronze prize went to the Chinese film Three Hearts. 

The jury donated the Indian long narrative film Koti its special jury prize. The Tunisian director Kamal al Sherif won the silver prize for his film Feast which is a joint Tunisian French production and he also won Cairo golden prize for Arabic films. The Syrian film Lahthet Farah (Happy Moment) by Walid Horaib won Cairo silver prize in the Arabic contest while the Egyptian film won the contest bronze prize. 

The Children Film jury for long narrative films donated its prize to the film Minosh from the Netherlands and its prize for the short narrative films to the Iranian film The Mother. The prize for best long cartoon film went to the Saudi film al Taj Wa al Solajan (Crown and Wand) by Maria Mwat while its golden prize for best short film went to the Spanish film Capilto Dance. 

The head of jury for cartoon films and TV programs Hillary Odas announced that the Egyptian film al Lailah al Kebirah (Grand Night) based on the musical operetta bearing the same title by the late Egyptian poet Salah Jahin, and directed by Tareq Musa’d won the golden prize for the best cartoon film. 

In the Arabic contest, the Lebanese Palestinian film Ahlamuna Mata (Our Dreams, When) by the Palestinian director Hisham al Kayed won the golden prize. Egypt won the silver prize for its film Endama Tateer al Toyoor (When Birds Fly) and the bronze prize for the film Atfal Sua’daa (Happy Children) -- Albawaba.com
