Lebanese singer Haifa Wahbi is currently thinking of moving into the media world and becoming a TV broadcaster. The singer has revealed that she is at the moment undergoing extensive lessons in phonetics in order to learn how to pronounce letters and words properly in addition to learning how to perform interviews with important and well-known figures.

According to the London based daily, Al Sharq Al Awsat, Haifa has requested a speech expert in Lebanon to begin giving her lessons in this field in order to become a successful TV announcer. Egyptian controversial director Enas Al Deghaidi has nominated Wahbi, instead of Lebanese actress Nour, for a leading role in her upcoming film “Al Bahithat An Al Huria” (Girls Seeking Freedom), to play the part of Lebanese girl who lives in Paris-France. The film will mark Haifa’s first leading role ever offered throughout her career.

The song “Ma Sar” (It Did Not Happen) by Haifa was chosen by EMI Records Company to be included in an international CD of music by artists from around the world. Haifa’s song was placed right after a song by British well-known singer Boy George. This marks the first step for Haifa in her quest to reach international fame. Her second step will be marked on July 30, 2003 as she is scheduled to hold a performance on the famous French Lido Theater in France, being the second Arab singer to have such an opportunity.

Wahbi denied recent circulating rumors that she has gotten married to a wealthy Arab and quit her career. The singer stressed that she is not currently involved in any relationship and does not intend on being so for the time being.

Haifa added that despite the weakness of her voice, she is proud of the success she has so far achieved as a singer. The singer noted that she does not consider herself to be talented as a singer but rather as a performer. She has the tendency to perform her songs and that is what has given her notice in the music industry. She added that she does not mind the negative criticism she has received from the media for the mere fact that she admitted her capabilities the moment she decided to become a singer.

Wahbi has stressed that she is not willing to change her style in singing and performance despite the continuous criticism she has been receiving. Haifa said that the fact that many Arab satellite television stations have stopped airing her music videos due to the seductive dancing, does not affect her success in any way. - Albawaba.com
