Lebanese diva Haifa Wehbe is no stranger to scandal but when rumors surfaced that she used to be married to the head of Lebanese Islamist group, Hezbollah, everyone was shocked.
Local media reported that the Arab world's favorite GILF had told the Voice of Russia radio station that she had secretly married and divorced Hassan Nasrallah back in her teenage days.
Many of the songstress' fans were shocked to hear that, despite a four year marriage to Egyptian businessman Ahmad Abu Hashima that broke down just last year, Haifa regarded Hassan as the only man her 'heart beat for'.
But during an interview with CNN Arabia this week, Haifa was quick to shoot down the rumors.
“I did not marry Nasrallah, a man I hold the utmost respect for," she said.
The starlet went on to explain the source of all the confusion: “In the past during a televised interview in 2010 I was asked about the man whom my heart beats for at the sight of him and I answered it is Hassan Nasrallah, but not in the sense of a lover or a man I wish to marry.”
According to reports, Haifa went on to poke fun at the rumors, saying: "Next time they will make me marry Obama."
However, while Haifa might have laid the rumors to rest, her admission hasn't stopped tongues wagging across the Arab celebosphere.
