The past year has witnessed so much chaos by Egyptian belly-dancer Dina, from her pornographic scandal with ex-husband, Husam Abu El Fotooh, to her wearing the Hijab (Islamic headdress) and resigning to finally returning to the scenes removing her headdress. So many different interpretations were given behind Dina’s action without any solid outcome to how one person can cause so much commotion.
The dancer recently held a personal interview, a matter which she has been refusing to do in the past few months, with the Arab magazine Al Waaid, and revealed some of the reasons behind her actions. Dina had at first stressed that her main reason for performing the Muslim pilgrimage Hajj is in order to escape from all the problems that kept chasing her after her porn scandal was out in the open and video tapes of her were dispersed all over the Arab world. Dina said that at that time the only thing she could do was run to God and worship Him for He is the only one capable of bringing her any comfort.
With regards to wearing the Hijab and announcing her resignation, Dina stressed that it is natural for any woman who undergoes Hajj to wear the hijab upon her return as a sign of respect to the sacred pilgrimage she underwent. She also revealed that another reason behind her wearing the hijab is a hair disease she had that could only be covered with a headscarf. Dina noted that she never announced wearing the hijab permanently and had no intention of quitting her career. She added that she only wanted to take some time off to get away from all the commotion that was happening and return when everything has calmed down.
Dina had recently traveled to Beirut for an exclusive performance for one of Lebanon's elite families. She was called in to perform to dance in her popular style for one night at a wedding for one of the families' daughter. Despite Dina's previous announcement that she will not return to dancing, she decided to accept this invitation especially since the family offered her a very appealing check.
Dina had revealed that she does not find secret marriages to be a taboo and that if the occasion calls for it she does not have a problem with doing it again. The dancer stressed that she never resigned from her career but rather took time off to relax from all the commotion. She included that she never took off the Hijab (Islamic headdress) for the fact that she never wore it to start with. Dina said that she is not ready to put on the Hijab due to the fact that it requires full devotion, which she is not yet ready for.
It was rumored that Dina took off her Hijab and announced her return to the entertainment world after her resignation. Dina has revealed that her return will begin with her acting in several different works in the cinema and on theater stages.
Dina had filed a lawsuit against her ex-husband Hussam Abu El Fotooh for violating her rights while she was married to him and making pornography films of her without her knowledge. Dina stressed that she intends to make sure that Hussam pays the price for the fact that it is against the law for a man to film his wife in such an indecent circumstance, and in fact Dina was ecstatic when Hussam was sentenced to a one-year prison term after he was found guilty of the charges against him. –Albawaba.com
