Egyptian singer Hani Shaker performed on Wednesday in Beirut, his latest song, Al Quds (Jerusalem), which he composed for the Palestinian people.

According to AFP most of whom attended Shaker’s concert were from the famous Sabra and Shatila areas in Lebanon, where a legendary massacre was committed by the Israelis.

Furthermore, the Sabra and Shatila residents gave Shaker a letter calling for all Egyptian and Arab artists to support the uprising of their people in Palestine.

Saudi Arabian poet Mansour Shadi wrote the lyrics for the song, which was composed by Hassan Abu Saoud.

Shaker had arrived in Lebanon on Tuesday, October 17, following an invitation from Future Television, which is owned by former Prime Minister Rafiq El Hariri. Shaker was scheduled for a talk show called Khalleek Bil Beit (Stay At Home), presented by poet and journalist Zahi Wihbe.

Shaker’s song is considered one of the highest selling in Palestine at the moment, where various old songs are selling like hot cakes.

The music video for Al Quds includes the now famous and real-life footage of the death of Palestinian child, Mohammad Durra.

Meanwhile, the singer, who has given all Satellite channels the right to air Al Quds has decided to donate all proceeds from the song to the children of Palestine. – Albawaba.com.
