Hannan Turk at the Montreal International Film Festival

Young Egyptian actress Hannan Turk has headed off to Canada to take part in the Montreal International Film Festival. Hannan’s new film “Dunia” (World), written and directed by Joe Sileen Saab, is competing in the festival.
The film also stars Egyptian singer Mohammad Muneer.
Muneer plays a young singer who meets a young woman, played by Hannan, and eventually the two make their way to Cairo to pursue their dreams.
The film is Muneer’s comeback to the cinema, and closely mirrors his real life story. The film features songs by the singer, and filming is scheduled to begin in the near future.
After Hannan returns from Canada, she will head to Jordan, where she will sit on the judging committee of the Jordanian Film Festival.
Hannan was recently in Syria filming outdoor scenes for her upcoming movie “Al Aba’ Al Sighar” (Young Fathers) costarring prominent Syrian actor Duraid Laham, also the writer and director of the film.
Hannan plays an Egyptian who comes to Syria on a mission to preserve historical places as part of her job with UNESCO. While in Syria she can not afford to live alone, and arranges to rent a room in a home.
The home belongs to Duraid, who is a widowed father. Hannan becomes like an older sister to his kids, who are trying to help their father complete his education.
