Hind Sabri Wins Best Actress Award at National Egyptian Cinema Fest

The 8th National Festival for Egyptian Cinema was concluded Friday with the two films Muwaten, Mukhber Wa Harami (Citizen, Detective and Thief) and Asrar al Banat (Girls Secrets) securing the top prizes, according to the London based Arabic daily al Sharq al Awsat. 

The festival head, critic Ali Abu Shadi, announced that the Tunisian actress Hind Sabri won the prize for best actress and the Egyptian actor Salah Abdulla won the prize for the best actor for their roles in the film Muwaten Mukhber Wa Harami (Citizen, Detective and Thief). The film also won the direction award by Daoud Abdel Sayyed in addition to the first prize for production. 

The film Asrar al Banat (Girls Secrets) won the prize for best supporting actress by Dalal Abdel Aziz and the prize for best support actor by Ezzat Abu Awf in addition to the second prize for production. 

The film al Saher (Magician) won the third prize for production and the prize for best set while the film Muthakkarat Murahiqah (Adolescent Memoirs) won the prize for best music by Rageh Daoud in addition to the prize for best shooting. 

The film Sukoot Hansawwar (Quiet, We Will Shoot) won the prize for best editing by Rashidah Abdel Salam while the prize for best director went to Khaled Yousef for his film Gawaz Bi Qarar Gomhuri (Wedding by Presidential Decree). The festival handed out a special prize to director A’tef Salem for his unique efforts in the history of the Egyptian cinema. 

In the long and short documentary films, the director Khaled Abdel Aleem won the jury prize for his film al Samakah (Fish) while director Wagdi Samuel won the prize for his best film al Samt al Sarekh (Blatant Silence) while director Ahmed Misha’l won Shadi Abdel Salm’s prize for his film Zamani Wa Zaman Ghairi (My Time and Others Time). 

22 narrative films participated in the festival while 49 documentary films competed in the contest. 

The festival released five books about the cinema pioneers and their most important works including the late director Kamal al Sheikh, actress Nadia Lutfi, late photographer Ramsis Marzouq, historian Mohammed Munir and documentation director Samir Awf -- Albawaba.com
