The Arab Cinema Institute is due to hold the 6th session of the Arab Cinema between June 29 and July 7, according to Kuwait News Agency.
Director of the cinema department at the institute Majida Wasef said in briefings to journalists on sidelines of Cannes Film Festival that the institute was exerting efforts to promote the Arab cinema in Europe.
The festival displays 100 films of various caliber, including movies of Palestine in addition to activities in honor of the late Egyptian actress Suad Hosni. It also includes a seminar on the Palestinian cinema.
Wasef said that the judging committee for the narrative movies will be chaired by the Egyptian movie star Nour al Sherif, and will include the Tunisian director Nasser Khmair, and the Lebanese actress Yasmin Khallat.
The 16 long movies to be displayed will include the Algerian Rashida, the Mauritania Awaiting Happiness and the Tunisian Tune of Waterwheel.
Egypt is taking part with four movies, The Magician, Girls’ Secrets, a Citizen, Investigator and Thief and The Desire.
The Lebanese are displaying When Mariam Talked and An Unknown Land, the Syrians are showing Two Moons and an Olive, Sacrifices, and Palestine is represented by A Travel Ticket to Jerusalem, Picking Olives and Jerusalem.. Another Day – Albawaba.com
