Jordan erects world largest outdoor theater for ‘al Mutanabbi’

Last Friday the historical and musical epic Abu al Tayyeb al Mutanabbi, kicked off in Jordan on the huge outdoor theater purposely erected for the play at the Baccalaureate International School. 

This theater is considered the largest outdoor theater in the world as its area exceeds the area of the largest known opera houses in the world. The total area of the theater including the rooms, cast and horses entrances exceeds 8,000 square meters in order to put the audience in the environment of this gigantic artistic and cultural work. 

The two-part play, which is, considered one of the most prominent Arab artistic and cultural works will continue over the next three days. The play cast has wrapped up the final demo shows of this historical epic written and composed by the Lebanese renowned artist Mansour al Rahabani under the direction of Marwan al Rahabani. 

The play stars participated in the demo shows including Ghassan Saliba who plays the role as al Mutanabbi, Jamal Saif (Saif al Dawlah) and Carol Samahah who plays as Khawla, sister of Saif al Dawlah, Sabah Ebaid (Kaphour al Ekhshidi) and more than 120 Arab artists in the field of acting, singing and dance. 

The number of participants in this magnificent performance amounts to 500 including actors, singers, engineers, technicians and designers who combined their efforts to produce this singing historical epic which explores the events in an era of the Arab history. This is done through the life history of Abu al Tayyeb al Mutanabbi by performing selections from his poems sung and presented by a number of actors playing roles as characters during that era -- Albawaba.com
