Khaled Al Masri demands an apology from Haifa Wahbi
Lebanese singer Haifa Wahbi appeared in a striking red dress in one of the episodes of her reality television program "The Ranch," without any mention of the designer, although the logo of an ‘eye’ was visible at the lower back of the dress.
Weeks after the episode was broadcast, internationally renowned fashion designer Khaled Al Masri accused Haifa in a press release of wearing one of his dresses without his permission. He had presented the dress in his Paris fashion show under the title "Al Mar’a Wal Doo’" (Woman and Light), and a fashion magazine published a picture of it, as worn by one of the models.
It became apparent that Haifa was wearing the said dress, and Al Masri is demanding a public apology via the Lebanese Broadcasting Company "LBC," the same channel that aired Haifa’s program.
According to the UAE based daily, Al Bayan, Khaled is known to be one of the most popular fashion designers who usually presents his collection to select aristocratic ladies, and rarely designs for female artists. He had been residing in Milano for a number of years and recently decided to relocate to Lebanon to open a private boutique.
Haifa had returned to “The Ranch” to host its final episode after walking out in tears due to escalating personal problems.
Haifa’s departure from ‘The Ranch’ was filmed live and she requested that the camera person stop filming, saying, "If you are filming me pack stop, I want to leave; I am fed up and want to be alone." The singer left her room at the ranch in tears seeking solitude and peace of mind, and traveled to Egypt to recover.
The producers of the show understood the singer’s condition and knew she needed to take a break, especially after the emotional trauma she experienced after breaking off her engagement.
Numerous tabloids covered her engagement to Saudi tycoon Tareq Jafali, and then their breakup, without any official announcement from either side to verify the validity of the numerous rumors.
