Prominent Egyptian actress Majida Zaki has yet again proven her acting talent in the “Attar Wal Saba’ Banat” (The Spice Dealer and his Seven Girls). One more day and the actress will complete shooting her scenes for the drama. The Egyptian daily, Al Akhbar, quoted Majida saying “My role in the Attar as Hania, was very challenging and in some way a risk, taking the role of the wife of El Haj Saleh (Nour al Sherif) and that of Abdul Rahman’s (Nour El Sherif) mother. The role is very different than that of Ameena which I played in “El Haj Mitwali last Ramadan”.”
Majida went on to comment that she hopes her longer role as a mother finds satisfaction among viewers especially after all the hard effort and time she put in studying the role to make sure she performs her part in the best way possible.
The daily also quoted Majida saying, “To allow myself to perform the role I was given in the naturalist manner, I mixed and mingled with a number of very simple women from villages, studied their personalities to implement what I had learnt from them in my role.”
“I tried my best to avoid using the typical cane, eye glasses and the hunchback style of old people. Instead, she wanted to portray Hanieh’s strength regardless of the hardships she experienced throughout her life by working hard to raise her son as a single mother. Keeping my straight stature helps to represent how the hard labor a simple woman undergoes, maintains her strength in old age.” Majida added.
Al Akhbar, also noted that Majida contacted her colleagues in the profession for additional advice to help her carry out her role in the best way possible. Majida admits that the drama has not yet reached the success “Haj Mitwali” reached last year, but believes with little patience success is underway and besides, the drama has not yet been halfway aired to make any sudden judgements.
Majida’s future plans are to stream away from the typical sweet, simple, down to earth, and sacrificial woman roles she usually takes. She hopes the next role given to her will be that of an evil woman, the complete opposite of what viewers are used to seeing her as.
