Egyptian singer Mustafa Amr has recorded a religious song about the holy Prophet Mohammad (Peace Be Upon Him), in formal Arabic, a first for Amr.
Mustafa revealed to the London based daily, Al Sharq Al Awsat, that he recorded the song four months ago, but thought this is the best time for its release after the holy Prophet was portrayed in an insulting manner by cartoons published by a Dutch newspaper.
“The song is the best weapon to fight the perpetrators,” declared Mustafa.
The singer revealed that he does not appear in the clip that features sacred sites.
On a different note, Mustafa has begun preparing for his upcoming film "Isabit Al Daktoor Omar" (Dr. Omar’s Gang), in which he plays the role of psychiatrist who treats patients in an unusual manner.
Mustafa worked with scenarist Zeinab Aziz and director Ali Idrees, the same film makers he worked with in his previous film "Hareem Kareem" (Karim’s Woman).
Mustafa said the film is a comedy, and of all of his films features the best selection of his songs.
Egyptian actor Hannan Turk has been nominated for the leading role alongside Mustafa. Hannan has yet to give her approval for the role, stating that she wants to review the script carefully before making her final decision.
