Last Saturday night was not a regular night at ‘Carthage.’ It was Tunisia’s National Day and it was the night that the famous Lebanese singer Najwa Karam sang live on the Carthage stage.
According to the London daily Elaph, Najwa’s performance brought over 12,000 thousand fans, mainly young listeners who danced to the beat of Najwa’s songs.
Najwa Held a press conference the day before her concert. She congratulated the Tunisian people on their National Day and said that a national day for any Arab country is celebrated by all Arabs.
Najwa said that in the satellite era she believes that a video clip is the best way for a song to become known amongst her fans.
Najwa was asked about the conflict between her and the famous Tunisian singer Latifa. Najwa said that Latifa is her friend and she asked ‘Rotana’ to include Latifa in the performance because she is an important singer in the Arab world. Najwa also talked about the Lebanese singer and musician Melhim Barakat and said that she was happy to work with him on a duet.
