The famous Lebanese artist Nancy Ajram denied accusations that she intentionally insulted Algerian fans by announcing that she would be cheering for the Egyptian soccer team instead of the Algerian team.

Nancy also performed the new song “Maser Al Arousa Al Mahrousah” (Egypt the Protected Bride), which she dedicated to the Egyptian soccer team and the Egyptian people, at the concluding ceremony of the “Arab Media Festival” held in Cairo.

Nancy said that she did not think cheering for the Egyptian team would upset Algerian fans, explaining that she only wanted to encourage the Egyptian team.

The Algerian press attacked Nancy for her announcement about the Egyptian team.  One article even described her as a “scorpion.”
