During the press conference Lebanese singer Nancy Ajram held at the Doha Festival, the singer said she was “very happy and pleased to be part of the festival,” especially ‘Egyptian night’ honoring Egyptian artist Riyad Al Sinblati.
“I enjoyed producing a children’s play on a Qatari stage, it was very successful,” said Nancy, known for her love of children.
When an Iraqi child, Qusay, was rehearsing for his performance, Nancy listened and was touched by his voice. She could not stop her tears from falling, explaining that the young Iraqi singer reminded her of her childhood. Nancy asked Qusay to take a picture with him, because she had become his newest fan.
According to the London daily Elaph, Nancy expressed her admiration for the late Egyptian singer Zizah Jalal and performed a song in her honor, “Mistaniyak” (I’m Waiting for You) currently being aired satellite music channels.
Nancy said that acting is her childhood dream and that she is waiting for the right opportunity to fulfill it.
Nancy ended the conference stating that she and her manger complete each other artistically, in selecting the right songs and musical compositions.
Nancy has already recorded five songs in the Lebanese, Egyptian and Khaliji dialects for her new album to be released in the coming months.
Nancy loves working with Lebanese director Mirna Khayat because “her camera work makes artists look their best.” When Nancy was asked to compare Mirna to her previous director Nadine Lebki, she said that each director added something new and different to her career.
