Nawal Zoghbi has decided not to join the ranks of singers-turned actresses and enter the movie world. Madonna did it before and so did the Spice Girls.
The Lebanese chanteuse had been set to star with top Egyptian singer Amr Diab in a musical film produced by Majdi Al-Howari and directed by Tarek Al-Iryan.
But Zoghbi had second thoughts and rejected a role in a film that could witness her acting debut.
She has cited various reasons for her decision, notably her belief that embarking on an acting career could damage her reputation and prospects as a singer, especially since she is new to acting.
Zoghbi was chosen by Pepsi earlier this year to star in their Middle East commercials (which, interestingly, was not deemed a potential stain on either her reputation or prospects) and has enjoyed a successful year with her latest album, El Layaali – Albawaba.com
