France International Broadcasting Corporation released a new CD entitled Music from Yemen as part of the Collaboration program between the Yemeni General Radio and TV Corporation and the French Foreign Ministry’s Department of Culture.
“The CD includes a unique set of Yemeni songs and music and also a booklet that introduces the Yemeni music and participating artists.
Music From Yemen includes cadences and songs by Mohammed Murshed Naji, Abu Baker Salem Balfakih, Mohammed Mahmoud al Harithi, Abdel Rubb Edris, Mohammed al Akhfash, Ahmed Fathi, Karamah Mersal, Abdel Baset Eissa and Amal Kaadal,” The organizer and director of the work Fadi Matar told the daily al Hayat.
Matar took the responsibility of selecting the music pieces for the CD and compiling them during a business trip he made to the Yemeni capital last year -- Albawaba.com
