Egyptian actor Noor al Sherif plans to play the role as an Algerian fighter who devotes his life to resist the French occupation, in his forthcoming film.

“More than one producer to be agreed with will participate in the film’s production because it needs a hefty budget which may reach 8 million pounds,” Sherif told the London based Arabic daily al Sharq al Awsat.

Sherif said that stars from Egypt, Algeria and all Arab countries would participate in the film to be directed by Yousef Shahin or his assistant Khaled Yousef. The scenes will be shot in Algeria, Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia and other Arab countries.

Earlier the Algerian audience called on Noor al Sherif, during the highly acclaimed shows of his play Lan Taskot al Kuds (Jerusalem Won’t Fall) in Algeria for three weeks, to play the role as an Algerian fighter in a film.

The more likely anticipated character which Sherif will play is the former Algerian president Ahmed bin Billa. Sherif reiterated that there is a big similarity in profile between him and bin Billa whom he met more than once and built a strong relationship with during his visit to Algeria before -- Albawaba.com
