Paris Arab World Institute to honor Suad Hosni, Radwan al Kashef

The Arab World Institute in Paris will honor the late Egyptian actress Suad Hosni and the late Egyptian director Radwan al Kashef, at the Arabic Film Festival to be held during the period between June 29 – July 7. 

“The festival which is held once every couple of years, will screen a number of films by al Kashef and Hosni during this session,” the head of the festival, Majida Wasef, told the Saudi daily al Riyad.  

She added that three Egyptian films will participate in the competition: Muwaten, Mukhber Wa Harami (Citizen, Detective and Thief) by Daoud Abdel Sayyed, Asrar al Banat (Girls Secrets) by Magdi Ahmed Ali and al Saher (Magician) by the late director Radwan al Kashef. Also, the film Al Raghba (the desire) will be screened outside the competition. 

The festival jury, headed by Egyptian film star Noor al Sherif, includes Jasmine Khallat from Lebanon, Nasser Khamir from Tunisia and a number of Arab cinema critics, as members.  

The films participating in the competition includes the Palestinian film Divine Intervention by Elia Suleiman, which won the 55th Cannes International Film Festival Jury Prize, the Syrian film Sundouq al Dunia (life box) by Usama Mohammed, which was screened for the first time at Cannes festival, and the Mauritanian film Fi Intithar al Saada (waiting for happiness) by Abdel Rahman Sayyed Sako – Albawaba.com
