Superstar newlyweds Michael Douglas and Chatherine Zeta-Jones gave workers at the famed hotel, where they were married last Saturday, a generous $40,000, it was revealed 2 days after their nuptuals.
One Plaza employee, according to The New York Post told the Mirror that "It was a very nice touch, because so often, the very wealthy don't notice that waiters and lowly employees even exist.”
Sources told the The New York Post that the wedding day tip was split between about 150 people, meaning each worker took home an extra $265 or so.
As the happy couple honeymooned in the Bahamas aboard a $3 million yacht, new details emerged about the behind-the-scenes goings-on at The Plaza last Saturday November 18th.
Zeta-Jones told friends she had been haunted by nightmares in the weeks before the wedding that her dad, David Jones, was going to pass out at the bash.
And she also thought she was going to faint before she got to the altar.
"I have been so nervous all day. My knees are just gone. I have no knees," she complained before marching up the aisle, according to the new issue of US Weekly.
"[And] I used to have nightmares about two weeks ago about my father collapsing."
But when it was all over, the magazine said, Zeta-Jones turned to her father and told him: "Daddy, that wasn't so bad, was it?"
US Weekly also says there were some interesting sights on the dance floor.
During one number, Zeta-Jones took a spin with her old boyfriend Mick Hucknall, the flame-haired singer from Simply Red.
But when Jack Nicholson was asked by his on-again, off-again squeeze, Lara Flynn Boyle, to shake his booty on the dance floor, the grinning superstar turned her down flat.
Furthermore, The Post also said that the one couple that was as romantic as Zeta-Jones and her new hubby was recently separated Meg Ryan and her new love Russell Crowe.
