Safa Sultan plays the role of “Laila Murad”
The Syrian actress Safa Sultan was chosen to play by the role of late Egyptian actress “Laila Murad” in the television drama series “Qitharat Al Sharq” (The Eastern Guitar), about her life and musical journey.
Safa was chosen by the ‘City of Art Production Company’ to play the new role.
The producer Ismail Kutkut nominated Safa and she was very enthusiastic to accept the offer.
The new film is written by Majdi Saber and will be directed by Syrian Muhammad Zuhair.
The Egyptian actor Izat Abu Oof was nominated to play the role of “Zaki Murad” and the actress Hind Akef to play the role of Laila’s mother.
The Syrian actress Reem Sabokhinji will play the role of “Laila Fawzi in the new series.
The new series also features other famous late artists like Sayed Darweesh and the musician Muhammad Abed Al Wahab. It will also discuss the revolution of 1919, the treaty of 1936, the Second World War and the revolution of 1952 after which Laila retired from singing.
