Egyptian folk singer Shabaan Abdul Rahim is preparing to film a new music video for his latest song about the spread of the Bird Flu virus in Egypt.
The new song has drawn the attention of Egyptian officials who believe it may prove to be an important tool for raising awareness amongst Egyptians about taking the necessary precautions against the virus.
According to the London based Elaph, it is unknown whether local Egyptian television channels will air the video, sine all of Shabaan's songs are banned from Egyptian networks unless they are part of a television program.
Shabaan also released a song that calls for a boycott of all products from Denmark after a magazine published insulting cartoons about the holy prophet Mohammad Peace Be Upon Him.
In addition, Shabaan released a new single in support of reappointing President Husni Mubarak for another term as president. The song’s lyrics highlight the achievements of Mubarak during his 24-years in power. He released a music video for the song currently being aired on the music channel ‘Mazzika.’ The video portrays the achievements Mubarak will accomplish is he is reappointed.
