In its first session, the Suez International Comedy Film Festival will honor the prominent Egyptian comedian Adel Imam, in appreciation for his pioneering role in comedy, according to the daily al Gomhuria.

Imam will be honored at the opening ceremony on October 30 at the Armed Forces Theater in the Egyptian City of Suez.

At the closing ceremony on November 4, the festival will honor the Syrian comedy star Duraid Lahham, in appreciation for his prominent role in comedy.

The move has come after Imam and Lahham have accepted the invitation extended to them by the head of the Egyptian Society for Cinema Screenwriters and Critics, Mamdouh al Laithi, and the head of the first International Suez Festival for Comedy Films.

Moreover, the festival will screen Adel Imam’s latest films including Amir al Thalam (prince of darkness) in addition to al Erhab wa al Kabab (terrorism and kebab), Bakhit Wa Adila and al Laeb Maa al Kibar (playing with the great).

The festival will also screen Duraid Lahham’s most prominent films including al Hudoud (borders), Kafroun and al Taqrir (the report) -- Albawaba.com
