The Miss Lebanon 2004 beauty pageant has ended this week with the surprise crowning of Nadine Najeem, twenty years old, Queen of the pageant. The competition was very fierce among the final six contestants, who remained after an elimination of the other participants by home viewers.
The pageant took place at the studio of the Lebanese Broadcasting Company (LBC) satellite television with the presence of a large crowd of prominent figures from the entertainment world, the media, political, and Lebanon’s elite society. Nadine, who is a model in real life, was not among the expected participants to win the title, due to her moderate looks and her attitude with her colleagues.
Despite all the previous expectations, Nadine was able to defeat all the 16 contestants, whose elimination came through viewers votes, during their six weeks journey of reality television. While Nadine was named Queen of the pageant, the first runner up Lamita Franjia walked off stage in rage refusing to accept the decision.
The final six contestants underwent four tests in front of the judging committee during the pageant and from which the winner was chosen. The committee gave seventy five percent of the score and twenty-five from home viewers. The guest of honor at the pageant was Lebanese singer Nawal Al Zoughbi, who sang a collection of her songs from her latest album. –Albawaba.com
