TV director Ahmed Khader has begun contacting screenwriters to come up with a script for a series on the life of the late Egyptian actress Suad Hosni.
Khader told the Egyptian daily Al Masaa that the late artist’s life was full of action that would make for a good TV series, not just for Arab and Egyptian audiences, but also for TV and art lovers in general.
“There are many beautiful humanitarian aspects and attitudes in the life and personality of Suad Hosni which have not been discovered,” said Khader.
The new generation of actresses has showed enthusiasm for participating in a major TV series on the life history of the Arab screen’s Cinderella.
Egyptian actress Hanan Shawqi said the series would be a “bouquet presented to the soul and memory of this artist who devoted her life to art.”
“At the beginning of my career, I was labeled a blend of Faten Hamah and Suad Hosni in appearance and performance. This was a big honor for me, and I’ve always tried to follow their footsteps,” Shawqi added.
Actress Muna Zaki said, “I heard of a film planned by the late director Yousef Francis about Suad Hosni. I wanted to perform her character when she was young in that film because that would have enabled me to be near her to gain more from her experience. Unfortunately, the project was stopped after the death of Francis.”
The young actress Mirna Walid was the only lucky actress from the new generation to perform along with Hosni in the film Al Raei Wal Nisaa (Shepherd and Women).
“It is the opportunity of a lifetime for any actress to perform alongside Suad Hosni. The screen Cinderella used to give me guidance every time I stood in front of the camera,” she said.
Walid added, “everybody in the studio used to say that Suad Hosni was the camera queen as long as she stayed in front of it. No actor or actress could surpass her because her attractiveness captivated her audience.” – Albawaba.com
