Warda’s “Days” comes to life in posthumous music video
The legend of the late, great Algerian singer Warda Al-Jazayria lives on with the recent release of a music video for her song “Eyyam” (Days) from the album "Eli Da'a Min Omri" (What has been lost from my life), which she put out before her passing.
The “Algerian Rose” had planed to release a music video along with her song after it was recorded in Beirut in 2009, but production problems prevented it from coming together in time. Her son Riyad Al Wassri recently took over the project and helped with the graphics production under the supervision of director Mo'nes Khamar.
The Lebanese dialect song was written by native speaker Munir BouAssaf and composed and distributed by Bilal Zein, but the video’s filming took place in Warda’s homeland of Algeria.
The new video was viewed for the first time in a special celebration with several Arab journalists in Algeria’s Capitol. The party thrown by the Algerian Cultural Influence Agency under the patronage of the Algerian Cultural Ministry was fittingly held on the first year anniversary of Warda’s death.
