During the civil war in Lebanon in 1984 the artist Wardah Al Jazairyeh sang the song “Libnan Al Hob” (Love of Lebanon), written by the late poet Hussein Al Sayed and composed by Muhammad Abed Al Wahab.

According to the London daily Elaph, Wardah has requested that the song be aired on television and radio stations throughout the Arab world, because it expresses life in Lebanon today. She also asked that journalists request the song.

“It is the perfect song for the crisis that is occurring in beautiful Lebanon,” said Wardah.

She started her singing career in Lebanon, after returning from France, where the late musician Riyad Al Sinbati discovered her.  Al Sinbati asked her to move to Cairo and she began work on her first film.

Wardah is tied to Lebanon because her mother is Lebanese.  She wanted to sing “Love of Lebanon” so that Lebanese people could love and respect one another, said Wardah. “The song is like a bouquet of hope and support to enable people in Lebanon to make their country safe again,” she said.
