Four documentaries produced by the students of the Abu Dhabi Women's College (ADWC) has been selected by the first Arab film festival in the Gulf which will be held in Doha from March 17 to 23, according to Gulf News.
Organized by Al Jazira satellite television under the title “The Arab Screen Independent Film Festival,” the event will attract the participation of world filmmakers, cinematographers and critics.
Al Jazeera has reported that prize winner Iranian female director Sameera Makhmelbaf has agreed to be a jusrist at the festival.
The Gulf News said that that the ADWC documentaries are the only Gulf entries in the festival and will be screened during a festival event in which the work of the college will be highlighted.
On his recent visit to the ADWC, Philippe Jalladeau, director of “the Festival of Three Continents" in Nantes, France, saw a selection of videos made by the students.
The selected students’ movies include "Still We Struggle,” a documentary about the Palestinian situation, "Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow," a comedy about a young national woman who is paranoid about losing her hair, "Blue," an experimental video, and "The Car or the Wife?" a funny documentary that mixes reality with fiction – Albawaba.com
