The Ramadan television drama “Al Marsi Wal Bahar” (The Sailor and his Anchor), starring prominent Egyptian actor Yahia Al Fakharani has come under criticism.
Critics claim Yahia disappointed his fans, especially since their expectations were high after last year’s popular drama “Abas Al Abiad fil Youm El Aswad.” (Abbas White on a Black Day)
“The Sailor and his Anchor,” written by Jala Abdul Kawi and directed by Ahmad Saqr, revolves around the trials and tribulations of an Alexandria fisherman.
Yahia had been postponing oral surgery until he completed filming the final scenes of the drama. The actor's doctor ordered him to stop filming for a period of ten days to undergo surgery, but instead Yahia has chose to live on sedatives to try and cope with the pain while he continued to film.
The actor will now undergo the surgery, followed by a long vacation so that he may recuperate.
