The cast of the upcoming television drama “Al Marsi Wal Bahar” starring prominent Egyptian actor Yahia Al Fakharani were run down by police in Cyprus, during the filming of one of the scenes of the drama.
The scene included the kidnapping of Yahia and some of the cast members by armed Mafia men, a matter that made the police fear that the guns used were real. When the police investigated the scene, they realized that the guns were all fake and allowed the remaining scenes to be filmed without any interference.
The cast returned from Cyprus to film the remaining indoor scenes of the drama in studios in Cairo. The drama is written by Jala Abdul Kawi and directed by Ahmad Saqr. The cast consist of Yahia, Anoshka and Mariam Fakher El Din.
Yahia had postponed all other projects until he completes shooting the final scenes of his drama, which is scheduled to be aired during Ramadan.
The drama centers on the trials and tribulations of an Alexandria fisherman.
The writer and director are currently looking for an actor resembling Yahia, to play the role of the fisherman in his early twenties.
Yahia’s son was nominated for the role, but he turned down the offer stressing that he prefers not to start an acting career, and wishes to focus on directing instead.
