Yahia Al Fakharani returns to the cinema as the commanding Mohammad Ali Pasha

After a several year absences, prominent Egyptian actor Yahia Al Fakharani will return to the big screen in a new film about Mohammad Ali Pasha and his reign over Egypt.
“Portraying Mohammad Ali has always been a dream of mine,” stated Yahia. The script is complete; however Yahia stressed that he would not reveal any details.
The actor previously turned down an offer to play the role of Mohammad Ali in a television series, stressing that his reign consisted of several wars that could only be portrayed properly on the big screen.
Yahia has postponed all other projects until he completes shooting the final scenes for his upcoming television drama series “Al Marsi Wal Bahar,” which is scheduled to be aired during Ramadan.
The drama centers on the trials and tribulations of an Alexandria fisherman.
According to the London based weekly, Laha, writer Jala Abdul Qawi and director Ahmad Saqer are currently looking for an actor resembling Yahia, to play the role of the fisherman in his early twenties.
Yahia’s son was nominated for the role, but he turned down the offer stressing that he prefers not to start an acting career, and wishes to focus on directing instead.
