After a long recovery Egyptian comedian-actor Younis Shalabi is showing signs of improvement. Tests have shown the actor is not experiencing any downfalls from the two brain strokes he suffered, and is no immediate danger of suffering a third.
Shalabi is scheduled to be released from the hospital after his condition improves.
According to the Qatar based daily, Al Raya, Younis intends to return to the scenes after his several year absence. The actor will play the part of the voice of an animated character in a new children's cartoon.
Younis suddenly suffered a severe brain seizure, and was immediately admitted to the intensive care unit and placed under close observation until he regained consciousness.
Younis’s health condition had worsened as a result of a previous stroke and a heart attack, in addition to several major surgeries he has undergone.
The actor’s wife had made a request to the Egyptian Minister of Health to finance the transfer of her husband abroad for treatment. She also asked for financial assistance to cover the remaining hospital bills, which amount to over 35 thousand Egyptian pounds. Both requests were accepted and the actor’s medical bill was covered by the government of Egypt.
