The Jordanian version of the Dead Sea-Red Sea canal will channel 1.9 billion cubic meters of water per day from the Red Sea to the Dead Sea once the final agreement has been signed. [greenprophet]

History is expected to be made upon the signing of the an agreement that would allow water to be drawn from the Red Sea in order to provide desalinated water to Israel, Jordan and the Palestinians as well as rescue the dying Dead Sea.

According to Yediot Aharonot newspaper, which first broke the story, the idea dates back to the 1994 signing of a peace treaty between Israel and Jordan.

The Lower House Financial Committee will request the government to downsize the 2014 state budget draft law, head of the committee said Saturday.
