A prison fire in the drug-offenses section of the Central Prison wounded 47 inmates and guards, and killed at least one person.

A Dubai-based consortium led by Mohamed Alabbar has bought a controlling stake in the Kuwaiti food franchise giant for $2.3 billion, three weeks after announcing the collapse of longstanding takeover negotiations.
