The Special Tribunal for Lebanon is set to request from Lebanese authorities to question five Hizbullah members in the next few days after Lebanese judges traveled to The Hague ahead of the expected release of the indictment in ex-Premier Rafik Hariri’s assassination case, sources were quoted as saying on Monday. The sources told Asharq al-Awsat newspaper that the names of the five people would remain confidential for a short period.
A source in Paris confirmed to al-Hayat daily that the Lebanese judiciary will be informed on Monday or Tuesday about the indictment.
Well informed sources told As Safir daily that the judges were summoned three days ago in an attempt to protect them ahead of the release of the indictment and in its aftermath. Despite reports that Lebanese authorities had received a copy of the indictment, General Prospector Saeed Mirza denied, telling al-Joumhouria newspaper that he “will announce it” when he receives it.
