Bahrain’s Agricultural Entrepreneurs to Plant Seeds of Growth at Bahrain International Garden Show (BIGS)
Under the patronage of King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of Bahrain, one of the most anticipated and colourful events of the year, the Bahrain International Garden Show (BIGS) 2010, is set to commence on February 25th at the Bahrain International Convention and Exhibition Centre. The event also has the support of Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of the King of Bahrain. This year, and through Tamkeen’s Growth Assistance Scheme, Bahraini Enterprises in the landscaping and agricultural sector can take advantage of the opportunity to grow their businesses by showcasing their various products and services in front of a large group of international exhibitors, delegates, and visitors at the show.
The Growth Assistance Scheme, one of several schemes offered by Tamkeen under its Enterprise Development Support (EDS) programme, is a co-financing scheme designed to support enterprises and make them sustainable by increasing the reach of their products and services through participation in local and regional trade exhibitions – such as BIGS. The support provided by Tamkeen covers the space rental at the show, plus the design and installation of stands. In addition to the stalls dedicated to EDS participants, there will also be a fully staffed and dedicated stand to promote the EDS programme and answer any questions from those interested in benefiting from the programme.
“The landscaping and agricultural sector in Bahrain is a key area which we hope to develop through our programme,” said Mr. Abdulellah Al Qassimi, Tamkeen’s Chief Executive. “So we
decided to fully cover the participation cost for Bahraini Farmers and up to 90% of any Bahraini enterprise wishing to take part in the exhibition through our Growth Assistance Scheme. All they need to do is contact our Enterprise Development Support Agency (EDSA) and they will help you with the rest.”
Bahraini enterprises are assisted in the various programmes by the EDSA, managed by KPMG Fakhro. To facilitate the application process, the EDSA recently opened dedicated premises in Seef area at Meral Building. Entrepreneurs can simply drop in to ask questions and apply for any of the various schemes under the Enterprise Development Support Programme, which are: the Business Development Scheme, the Technical Assistance Scheme, the Quality Management System Scheme, and the Growth Assistance Scheme.
