History in Libya as rebel forces entered Tripoli's central Green Square with almost no resistance from pro-Gaddafi forces. The rebels and their supporters waved flags and fired into the air. A rebel leader said the unit charged with protecting ruler Moammar Gaddafi had surrendered and joined the revolt.

There are conflicting reports about the possible arrest of Gaddafi. A source in the Transitional Council said they will publish soon a "delightful" news. The International Criminal Court confirmed that Saif Al-Islam, Gaddafi's son, has been detained. He was reportedly captured in a western tourist village of Libya.

And the Libyan leader's eldest son, Mohammed Al-Gaddafi, has surrendered to rebel forces and is under house arrest.

On his part, US President Barack Obama led world leaders in urging Gaddafi to acknowledge he is no longer in control of the country. "Tripoli is slipping from the grasp of a tyrant," he said.
